This week was a story of two regenerations – with two very different results.
Recession kills off Roehampton regeneration
The bad news came for Roehampton. The Roehampton Regeneration had been moving slowly for several months while the planning application was developed and everyone was aware that the economic climate meant that rapid progress was unlikely. [...]

I’ve added a poppy to the blog. It’s a little amateurish, to be sure, but my thoughts were that it is more about the sentiment than the quality of the pixels.
It’s a home made effort, simply because I couldn’t find anything anywhere else. The British Legion offer some badges (displayed to the left) but they [...]

The recession has finally put paid to hopes for a major regeneration project in Roehampton.
The scheme had been in development for a number of years and went through seemingly endless consultations with local residents, mixed feelings from the Labour Party (who couldn’t work out if they want to improve people’s quality of life or not) [...]

Every Prime Minister has a biscuit. Thatcher was a bit of a garibaldi; a lot of people loved her, but a lot of people hated her. Major was a rich tea; honest and decent, but a bit bland and – frankly – other biscuits do the job better. I’d go for Blair as a [...]

Simon Milton launched the Nine Elms Opportunity Area Planning Framework (OAPF) yesterday. Those that follow me on Twitter may well have been bored yesterday with my incessant tweeting using the #9elms hashtag.
The sell-out event at New London Architecture reflected the huge interest in the area. And the the OAPF reflected the size and [...]

Tomorrow (Wednesday) sees an opposition day debate on ‘local spending reports’. These were introduced by the Sustainable Communities Act 2007 and were intended to detail all the public spending in a borough.
You might think that already exists. For example it’s easy to identify what the council is spending in Wandsworth, everything the council [...]

The map below details crimes reported in Wandsworth between 15 – 22 October.
Although these maps may look alarming, it’s worth remembering that it covers a population of over 280,000 people, with many thousands more who travel through the borough or come to Wandsworth for work or pleasure.
If you have any information on any of these [...]

So, for this week’s collection of odds and ends. This week’s photo doesn’t really have any artistic merit – composition and exposure could be better – but it is from Battersea Park where autumn is making itself known. The park really is beautiful at this time of year, and almost magical if you [...]

It is with a heavy heart I find myself having sympathy with Nick Griffin.
Today he is bemoaning his fate of having had to face a BBC organised lynch mob. No better than he deserves you might think and I’m inclined to agree; but I have to stick by the principles that meant I supported [...]
